Market is everything but quiet in the past couple of days and we think this is a good time for a quick review.

Initially profiled in March 26 “Swing Trader Bulletin”, James River Coal Company (JRCC) has gained more than +120% and remains well positioned.

Actually, we really like the action over the past few weeks – volume picked up as prices cut through key resistance (see chart). As mentioned, we’re still bullish on JRCC and expecting the stock to trend higher.

Shares of China Financial Online (JRJC) rose more than +18% today on massive volume. The stock had gains about 40% since profiled in April 25 “Swing Trader Bulletin” as a potential buy candidate.

One of the more actively traded shares in the IPO market was Titan Machinery Inc (TITN). The stock jumped more than 10% today on explosive volume.

As you can see, TITN gains about +17% in just 3 days after profiled in May 13 “Swing Trader Bulletin” as a potential buy candidate. Today’s bullish breakout had helped setting the stage for an acceleration run into the uncharted territory.

Other winning trades included:

• Big Lots Inc (BIG) set up on April 15, 2008. The position gains more than 30% in about a month.
  
• Lsb Industries Inc (LXU) up about +23% since set up in March 25, 2008.
  
• Yamana Gold Inc (AUY) set up on May 02, 2008. The position gains about +16% in about 10 days.
  
• Fording Canadian Coal (FDG) set up on May 05, 2008. The position gains about +14% in just 2 weeks.
• Metropcs Communication Inc (PCS) profiled on May 12, 2008. The stock gains about +10% in a week.
• Del Monte Foods Co (DLM) up about +9% since set up in April 30, 2008.

The Dow up more than 100 points prior to the FOMC announcement. What’s going on?

Topping today headline was news that General Motors Corp (GM), a Dow component, reported a narrower-than-expected quarterly loss and said overseas sales helped to alleviate weakness in the U.S. market. Its shares rose more than 12%, their biggest one-day advance since May 2005. Just so that you know, initially profiled in April 07 “Swing Trader Bulletin”, GM has gained about 13% and remains well positioned.

As we’ve noted in the previous Market Outlook, smart money continues to rotate into tech stocks. This, in fact, was exactly what the members of our “Swing Trader Bulletin” been doing in the past couple of weeks. Yes, we’re always early though it’s better to be early than sorry! Initially profiled on March 12, Google Inc (GOOG) gained more than 32%.

Initially profiled on March 10, Ariba Inc (ARBA) gained more than 33%.

Initially profiled on April 1, Amdocs Ltd (DOX) gains about 12% and remains well position.

Retails and medical instruments stocks are also doing very well. Initially profiled in April 15 “Swing Trader Bulletin”, Big Lots Inc (BIG) has gained more than 25% and remains well positioned.

On Monday, topping headlines was the news that LifeCell Corp. (LIFC) agreed to a $1.7 billion cash takeover by medical technology company Kinetic Concepts Inc. Shares of skin graft maker soared 16.94%, an all-time high, Monday or more than 35% since featured in our February 26 “Swing trader Bulletin” as a potential buy candidate.

Perry Ellis (PERY) seems to be consolidating previous gains. We’ve sold the last leg (20%) this morning @ the trailing stop-loss point. This stock had brough us a total profit of 13% is as little as 2 sessions. This is incredible.

The recent set up Vasco Data Security (VDSI) continues to move well on the expected direction, rose more than 3% this morning on good volume.  The stock holds an amazing 6% unrealized gains in just 2 sessions.

The newly set up(s) had also triggered and moved higher on heavy volume. This is, of course, bullish.

As expected, the recent set up Perry Ellis (PERY) jumped more than 12% this morning and had achieved the first target, $32, in as little as 1 session. This is incredible. According to “the rules“, we’ve sold 75% of our holding into this area for an amazing profit of +13.24%.

The newly set up Vasco Data Security (VDSI) also triggered and moved higher, up more than 2% on heavy volume.

Overall, it was a very strong day on the Street and so our “Swing-Trader Bulletin”. Cepheid (CPHD) soared almost 15% to a new high today. The position has an amazing unrealized gain of almost 20% in just 3 days. Advent Software Inc (ADVS) jumped almost 9% to a new high. We’ve took a partial profit of 20% today when the stock hit our first target @ $44. Accuray Inc (ARAY) added on to previous gain, up 2.63% to finish at $20.71. This position has an unrealized gain of almost 10% in just a week. Research in Motion Ltd (RIMM) gained almost 4 points to $226.01. Starbucks Corp (SBUX) up a bit more than 2% to $27.72.

Despite what was the S&P 500’s best three day performance since March 2003, our short positions are doing extremely well with Service Corp (SCI) down about 3% to $11.59. Gardner Denver Inc (GDI) dropped 4.50% to $37.80. The position has an unrealized gain of almost 10% in just 2 days.

Beside the 20% gain from ADVS, we’ve also took home some nice profits of about 16% and 10% from the Accuray Inc (ARAY) and Cash America Int’ (CSH) positions, respectively.

Daily Stock Picks for $ August 03, 2007

For a second day in a row, stocks stayed relatively calmed until the late surge took the major indices higher. Overall, it was a good day on the Street and so the Swing-Trader Bulletin. Advent Software Inc (ADVS) printed another new 52-week high today, gained about 2% to $39.63. The stock gained almost 10% since profiled 3 days ago. Accuray Inc (ARAY) gained 41 cents or 2.15% to $19.52. The new short position, Cash America Int’ (CSH) also moved well on the expected direction, down 30 cents or 0.85% to $35.15.

On the downside, Vcg Holding Corp. (PTT) lost almost 4% on high volume. Glad that we’ve took a most of the money off the table yesterday. However, unless the stock takes out the July’s low, this pullback could be taken as a good buying opportunity for aggressive traders.
